WGANJ 12 Week League
Spook Rock Golf Course
Spook Rock Golf Course is an award-winning 150 acres, par 72 golf course located at 233 Spook Rock Road in the Village of Montebello in the Town of Ramapo.
Spook Rock Road derived its name from Native American lore and the course followed suit with its intriguing name as well. Designed and constructed by Frank Duane, the course opened the front nine in 1969 and the full eighteen in 1970. It is situated on the former site of Kane’s Open, the first Boy Scout Camp in the United States.
The level of play for this league is Intermediate - Handicaps Preferred
The Intermediate league offers an atmosphere focused on the game of golf. Members are expected to play with different partners throughout the season. Occasionally, the captain will arrange contests to add interest. Most Intermediate players should endeavor maintain a handicap index and usually score 95-110 in an 18 hole round. As an Intermediate golfer you are expected to know most of the rules, follow golf etiquette, be polite on the course and most importantly, maintain pace of play.
Players know the game and maintain pace of play finishing 9 holes in 2:15 (two hours and fifteen minutes). If they play with friends, it is a bonus but doesn’t slow down their round. If players in this league have the opportunity to play with more advanced players they take it. They may walk onto the Advanced League periodically to test their skill and see if they are ready to step up.
This is a 9 hole league.
