What started in 2023 as a friendly chipping, putting, and driving contest has grown into one of WGANJ's most beloved summer traditions.

Held each August, The Mulligan is a match play scramble tournament — meaning all skill levels are not only welcome, they thrive here. No handicap index? No problem. The scramble format levels the playing field and keeps the energy high from the first tee to the final putt.

What does "scramble format" mean? Each golfer plays with a partner - both players tee off and chooses the best shot. They then hit their next shot from that spot. This is repeated until the ball is holed out, with one score recorded for each hole. Golf partners compete hole-by-hole - the twosome with the lower score wins the hole; if both twosomes have the same score on a hole, the hole is tied. 

Players are also drafted onto one of two teams for the day - blue or white - competing for bragging rights in a spirited day of golf and camaraderie. The fun extends beyond the course, with extra activities woven into the day, making The Mulligan as much a celebration as it is a (very) relaxed competition.

Since its inception, The Mulligan has grown in popularity year after year, and it's easy to see why: this is golf the way it's meant to be played — inclusive, exciting, and a little bit unpredictable.
